5 Tips for Picking the Perfect Wedding Jewelry!

Most of the focus before the big day goes on the bridal gown, but no outfit is complete without the right accessories! This includes your bridal jewellery. You want it to elevate your look, while also being true to your style and having a timeless element (you’ll be looking at it in your wedding photos for years to come, after all).

We’ve put together 5 tips to help you pick the perfect wedding jewellery!

  1. Think About Your Dress

Your wedding dress is the ultimate statement piece on the big day and your jewellery should compliment it, not detract from your overall look. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t choose statement jewellery if that’s the look you desire! Consider all aspects of your gown (fabric, colour, neckline, beading) and try to find jewellery that matches the overall aesthetic. If you have a detailed dress you might be better off choosing simple jewellery, while a simple gown can be taken to a whole new level with some special jewels.

  2. Be Consistent

In the case of wedding jewellery, it’s typically a case of less is more. This certainly is true when it comes to choosing the metal of your pieces and gemstones. It is best not to mix more than two types of metals (for example, gold and white gold) and two types of gemstone (diamond and rubies, or whichever combination you choose). Too many colours can be distracting and take away from the elegance of a look.

  3. Consider Comfort

While you want to look and feel beautiful on your wedding day, you also want to be comfortable. If you don’t usually wear a lot of jewellery, your wedding day is probably not the time to be experimenting with heavy earrings or unique body chains. Be practical with your choices and keep in mind that you will be wearing these for hours. The last thing you want is to get a headache because you’ve chosen oversized earrings!

  4. Make Sure it Matches your Headpiece

If you are wearing a veil or other type of headpiece, always remember to try your jewellery with this before your wedding day. You’ll be surprised how different pieces look when you put the whole look together. Consider the size of your headpiece and where you want the focus to be. Ideally, all elements of your look will work seamlessly together, rather than having separate items fighting for the spotlight.

  5. Stay True to your Individual Style

At the end of the day, you want to look (and feel) like yourself on your wedding day. If you are into bold looks, embrace some statement pieces. If you prefer a simpler style, look for daintier pieces that will bring elegance to your vision. Stay true to yourself and your style, as you don’t want to receive your wedding photos only to see a stranger staring back at you.

Picking your wedding jewellery should be an exciting process, but it can often be stressful too. These tips will help guide you to make the best decision so you feel beautiful and confident on your special day.
