SPOTLIGHT ON: ALON LIVNE
The fantasy wedding dress traditionally gets all the spotlight, but what to wear when it comes to pre-wedding dinner showdowns and costume changes the night of? Israeli designer, Alon Livne’s latest collection is a gorgeous option for before, after, and in-between.
The first winner of Israel’s version of Project Runway, close to a decade ago, Alon Livne has since parlayed his success into a burgeoning fashion design business that has been worn by everyone from the Kardashian family to Naomi Cambell, Lady Gaga and Beyonce. He has since transitioned into bridal wear, showing his last two collections at New York Bridal Week, with much fanfare. His latest offering is a stunning collection of Ready-to-Wear dresses, ideal for pre-wedding party festivities and continuing the post-wedding bliss, dressing up for Insta-worthy honeymoon shots.
The collection was photographed on Coney Island and the dresses are crafted from a range of materials. For example, the mini dress, flaunts several unexpected combinations, including silk, sequins and even jersey.
The collection was inspired by NYC street culture and the clubbing in the eighties, a mix of glam and boundless courage. Dresses riff of the era with motifs like sequins, bright colors, Livne’s signature diagonal cuts, and organic forms to create a new textile surface – and above all, always flattering the wearer’s shape.
Another influence was singer Grace Jones, who combines talent and courage alongside exotic beauty. Livne says that in his model search he was looking for someone “who can transfer the power and elegance that Grace harnesses”.
Prices range from: $175 for tops to $1,775 for signature dresses and are available here
